How do I get my family to let me celebrate Christmas?
K well I’m Muslim and no one in my family celebrates Christmas. It stinks because everyone at school always talk about how they are soo excited about Christmas. I also keep seeing people put their decorations up. For a few years we would put christmas lights on and we MIGHT do that this year which is a start. I want to go further then that like buying Christmas trees and exchanging presents and getting together with the family for breakfast or dinner or having a big family dinner together on Christmas Eve and stuff. I asked my parents if we can actually celebrate it this year and they said we can go to the church and find poor families that we can buy gifts for and deliver the gifts to them. That is great and shows the spirit of Christmas but I want to do tat and other stuff. Please help me try to convince my parents to celebrating Christmas.
and yes Muslims do beleive in Jesus. He’s one of their prophets
Hi sweetie I hear your sadness and I feel very bad for you because Christmas is a fun holiday and it would be nice if you could celebrate it the way you would like. But on the other hand I feel you should respect your parents wishes and It does seem like they are changing by the nice things that they are doing for others.you are in your parents house and the right thing to do is obey them but maybe if you talked and ask them if you could maybe put one of those little trees you know the ones with the lights on it and it sits on a table in your room. I don’t know much about your religion and I don’t want to suggest something that is going to get you into trouble. But if you believe in your teaching then you can’t do it half way you have to obey what your religion teaches. When you get grown then you can decide on what you would like to do, but for now obey your teachings and your parents. So very sorry I could not be of more help to you.
